Welcome to my first travel blog post of 2019! My goal last year was to travel somewhere new every month, and I almost made it. Fingers crossed I’ll achieve it this year. We always travel to London every winter. I decided to take more photos this time and give you some of my tips for visiting London.
Winter Wonderland, Hyde Park
I’m sure you’ve already seen tons of pictures on Instagram of the huge Winter Wonderland Christmas Fair in London. It comes to Hyde Park every year and we’ve been for the last three years running. It’s become a cute little tradition! I’d recommend avoiding opening weekend if possible and try and go before it gets too close to Christmas! It has loads of fun rides and tasty food stalls, as well as cute stalls. It’s definitely worth booking in advance if you’re hoping to go ice-skating or see the shows. This time, a lot more of the stalls took card, which was far easier than when it was cash only!
See A Show In The West End
We were incredibly lucky and got to the Prince Edward Theatre as it opened. We queued for a little while and asked if they had any spare tickets for the Aladdin showings that day. Not only did they have spare tickets (seated separately, but hey), they were only £20 each! Such a steal to watch Aladdin from the Dress Circle, and it made our weekend! There are so many incredible shows on currently, from Kinky Boots to The Lion King, and there’s something for everyone. I have a Bucket List of West End shows, and I’m so happy to have ticked Aladdin off that list.
Go Window Shopping In Covent Garden
I love exploring the boutiques in Covent Garden. There’s nothing quite like window shopping your way through all the glossy displays while being serenaded from the street! One of my favourite things to do in Covent Garden is listening to the street performers in the Market Square. The shops always have gorgeous window displays, and you can get some great shots in the Square.
Travelling On The Tube
You haven’t properly travelled around London until you’ve got well and truly lost on the Tube! We love using the Tube app to plan our journeys and have Oyster cards to swipe in and out easily. You can pick up a Visitor Oyster card that will allow you to travel cheaply around the city. The Tube helps cut down on travelling time if you’re running on a tight schedule!
Explore London On Foot
Our FitBits got put to the test as we walked almost 25,000 steps on the Saturday alone! I love exploring London as it’s so easy to walk around, and I discover somewhere new every time we visit. One of our favourite spots to walk around is Carnaby Street (home of the shiny new Spectrum store). We also love Picadilly Circus, Oxford Street and walking along the Thames.
I hope you enjoyed reading about my favourite things to do in London over the Winter!
