I’ve just arrived home from a week away, so it’s blogging time again! I’ve been to Kefalonia, a little Greek island, with my boyfriend. This is a collaborative post with No 1 Lounges. This was our first holiday away as a couple so I decided to surprise him! I booked us in at the Gatwick South Airport Lounge* for us to start our holiday in style. We arrived at the lounge at around half 4 in the morning and our flight left at 6am. It was lovely to have some time to relax and get some food before flying.
The lounge is easy to find – the entry is just down a corridor between JD sports and Dixons. The staff were very friendly as they signed us in and took us to the main room. The lounge was spotless and consists of tables displaying the food on offer. It has a border of small sofas and armchairs, all which have an amazing view of the runway. There is free (and fast!) wifi available. There were also loads of magazines and newspapers to read.
Your booking includes complimentary food and drink (excluding champagne) depending on what time you visit. When we went, there were huge plates of pain au chocolat and croissants on offer, as well as various cereals and fruit. There was also a breakfast menu to choose from, which we found hard to choose from with choices such as a bacon roll or omelette.
The lounge gradually filled up but luckily, there was more than enough space and food for everyone there. I would definitely recommend booking in advance though, because not only do you save money, you know there’ll be space for you as the lounges can become busy. The South Lounge costs £30 for an adult and £16 for a child (infants under 2 go free).
For us, the main highlight of the lounge wasn’t the views, or the lovely food. It was the calm environment which was a wonderful way to relax and get ready for the flight. We really enjoyed our experience and are definitely planning on booking with No 1 lounges again, as it was a great way to start the holiday! Let me know if you plan on checking out No 1 Lounges* on your trip!
